This is the third year that we have tried to help the Annapolis Professional Firefighters with this annual event. These firefighters are doers. They see a need in this community and they get out there and try to help in a very direct way. They don't spend a lot of time on the niceties, publicity, or advertising. They drive around, pickup toys, and get them to area children who need them. If you are looking for a very local charity to support this Christmas; it doen't get much more local and financially efficient than the Annapolis Santa Run.
Yesterday I brought home a handful of toys for this event and my three year-old started to ogle them. We tried to use it as a lesson to teach her about how Christmas is for giving and not just getting. I'm not sure how successful we were, but If you have children, you may want to do something similar.
...and don't forget to stop by Bruster's at 4pm Sunday to meet Santa and the Santa Run firefighters when they stop by to pickup all of the gifts that you generously drop off at Bruster's.
MERRY CHRISTMAS from Bruster's Annapolis.
