Aw, nuts!

 

Nuts are a food product that has seen a very dramatic increase in price, much more than other foods. We use a fair amount of nuts here, particularly pecans. Pecans appear in our very popular Butter Pecan ice cream as well as anything with “Turtle” in the title. We’ve been open almost three years and the price of pecans has more than doubled in that time. That makes a batch of Butter Pecan significantly more expensive than a batch of Vanilla, but a cone of each costs the same to everybody. 

 

We are trying really hard to figure how to be able to offer these items with expensive ingredients but still be able to pay our bills. You can tell us what you think in a poll here. So far, we have decided to use the same pecans we always have, pay for them and keep the quality up. We have decided to cut back on when flavors like Turtle and Butter Pecan are offered which will hopefully allow us to purchase fewer pecans. We hope that you, our customers, will understand and we hope that if you happen to visit us craving Butter Pecan and it is not available, that you will use the opportunity to try another one of our popular flavors. You might find a new favorite! Also you can always check our online flavor list and make sure we have what you want before jumping in the car to visit us.
