This week we bid adieu to two young ladies who we have watched grow from two young girls. Jayshawn and Alexus are headed off to college and while we would like to say you'll see them next Summer, we know that the first year of college is a huge change and no one can predict where they will be or what they will do after that freshman year.

If you’ve seen any consumer news lately or regularly visit the grocery store you know that the cost of food has increased a lot lately. Here at Bruster’s, our food costs have gone up too and it’s one of the reasons that we recently had to increase prices on several popular items.

So I'm sitting here in the lobby of a huge hotel in Atlanta, GA where our annual Bruster's meeting has just wrapped up. Honestly I dread going to these things, but once it's over I'm glad I went. There are lots of talented people that work for Bruster's HQ and even more very hard working franchise owners that are all trying to do the best they can for their customers, their staffs, and their business that they can. Just taking a day to be able to connect with other owners is worth the trip.

One of the most bewildering decisions we have to make is when to close the ice cream shop because of bad weather.

So I just got a mail from that water ice place down the street from us. (I subscribe to all the competition's e-mails so I can see what they are up to.) It seems they're offering a nifty gift card deal. Buy a $10 gift card and get a free treat, Gee, that's swell!

We've been getting a lot of questions at the windows lately about when do we close for the season. The answer: WE DON'T! We're probably getting this question because some of our competitors, particularly the one down the road that rhymes with "Chica," does. We know that true ice cream connoisseurs don't give their taste buds the winter off, so we stay here ready for you to treat yourself 363 days each year.
